“Bid” (Kym Bidstrup)is an actor, writer, filmmaker, teacher and voice artist.
He has taught Journalism at Curtin University, Media Training at St John Ambulance and many other organisations, as well as Voice Production classes at a variety of venues and Creative Writing in Bandyup Women’s Prison.
Bid returned to acting, his first love, in 1996 after a long career in journalism which took him all over the world. Since then, Bid has appeared in more than 40 short and feature films, stage shows, animated films and television series. In 2009, he wrote, directed, edited and appeared in his own short film “The Urban Hopi” and is currently working on his second, “The Man Who Loved Bears”.
He continues to be inspired by NASA principal, Fern Nicholson, whom he credits with opening up and guiding a whole new creative “channel” in his acting.
Bid has been a Foreign Correspondent in Europe and the USA, the London Bureau Chief for the Seven Network Australia, a talk show host, a newsreader, a barman, a marketing consultant, and a performance poet.
Acting, and his amazing family, saved his life.
He has been an MEAA Member since 1970 and a proud Actors Equity Member since 1996.
