CURRICULUM CONSISTS OF : 1 x 3 side script/scene AND one monologue.

Total: Two individual characters

This course will assist the student to research and profile two separate characters.

APPLICATION of the WHOLE actors process addressing :

IMPROVISATION with the Master of Improvisation – SAM LONGLEY

Improvisation is vital for an actor to feel confident on stage and screen, in auditions as well as helping the student keep each performances fresh. It promotes a zen like approach toward acting, where the actor is in the moment and not caught up in the analytical brain. Confidence, creativity and spontaneity are all enhanced with the ability to trust your skills and free yourself of preconception and planning. To assist the student in own the moments within a scene and continue in moving each scene forward. Students are encouraged to bring their inner dialogue to the surface which in turn creates the building blocks to direct the scene in a variety of directions.

MOVEMENT with ANNA BROCKWAY

Within the world of play, relationship and structure, these workshops will develop and enhance your body awareness: how you hold and move it. Find your neutral body and explore physical body placement, allowing true body expression to be exposed and assist in emotionally moving others. A ready, relaxed presence to explore character movement that is DIFFERENT to your own so it naturally comes to you in your work. This honed exploration of movement techniques explore and expand your range of body movement and body memory. All 97% of communication is non verbal and these techniques can assist you in being aware of what your body is saying and how to better use this language.

Explore, discover and create the character’s physicality to screen.

VOICE with JAMES HAGAN/SIOBHAN DOW-HALL

Understand the importance of a relaxed body for vocal technique. Realise the essential role of good breath work, not only in vocal techniques but emotional connection. Various warm ups for healthy vocal folds, projection, articulation and resonance. Exercises that highlight how important vocal versatility is in character development and clarity of subtext etc. Working with specific pieces , we will look at those with reference to vocal expression. TONE – LEVEL – PITCH – USE OF TWO ACCENTS

APPLICATION with FERN R NICHOLSON

Weekly script formation and variations in scene and character play.

Making sure EVERY student applies the skills learned in their Voice, Improvisation and Movement classes that will in turn assist the student to create unique and interesting characters.

Filming both individual close-ups for scene and separate monologue – showreel ready!

The Actors Challenge is a collaboration of all these processes being applied with every character. This will be achieved in all scene and character play classes with Fern.

ALL STUDENTS MUST UNDERSTAND THAT ALL HOMEWORK MUST BE COMPLETED AND THAT ANYTHING LESS THAN 100% PARTICIPATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED”
